The KIB Story
Our family-owned business began life as a custard stand in 1960 (originally known as the Dairy Isle) and still carries a local favorite: Toft's Ice Cream. When the Neuman's ferry Boat operated their ferry line across the street (to and from Marblehead), there would be a line of cars waiting to leave the island on Sundays. The visitors would stop in for a float, milk shake or just pass the time.
The KIB menu pairs unique Northern Haserot food items with unique flavors. The menu feature fresh ingredients to make sure we please your island appetite. Many items are available to go so that you can spend your time entertaining and not cooking. A local catering service favorite, any size party (up to 240) can be handled at our lakeshore setting. We've also been told we have the best Bloody Mary's on the island. We don't like to brag, we just want you to Feel the Love.

Lunch and dinner menus are paired with tasting trays of DELICIOUS BEERS. Enjoy a tray of our beer varieties at a table or at one of our two bars. The salads and sandwiches can be enjoyed from NOON until 9:00 PM with a late night menu available until midnight. A mix of home-style cooking and fresh alternatives gives this menu diversity and substance without too many choices and distractions to deter from the truly high quality food that is served.
Last year we implemented a restaurant-wide recycling program. Glass, plastics, cans, along with paper and cardboard were separated and taken from the island for proper recycling. It was astounding the amount of landfill space we saved on such a limited resource as our island. We felt that in just one year, we made a difference and look forward to finding more ways that we can make our business more eco-friendly. We missed the convenience of our dumpster, but see that by conserving we can make substantial progress towards creating a sustainable future. Change is not easy, it is a process.
All of our carry-out containers are biodegradable. So please, order up with no guilt. Take some hand-crafted food home with you and enjoy. Muffins, cookies or full dinners are available with our carry-out service. Call 419-746-2314. You will be happy you made the call.
"Cheers" from Patti, Doug, Petey and our crazy brew crew!

3 Incredible Years of Celebrations
Way back in 2008 (it feels like that some days), we celebrated our 20th year in the breakfast business. In 2009 many of you helped us celebrate our 10th year as a microbrewery. Cheers to home brewers and vintners from past and present; Nobody makes a maple brew like QuickDraw! And perhaps no one should. We didn’t think of 2010 as another celebration year until we realized it will be our 50th year as an ice cream stand! We are busy writing the story about my father and my uncle putting the finishing touches on the Dairy Isle at 3AM on Memorial Day weekend in 1960. This inspired us to offer our new sundae this year, called old #50, featuring the Tofts ice cream that has been so important to our family business. |

As for the brewery, Doug will be offering the five flagship beers (Anglers Ale, Anniversary Ale, Dawg Bizkit Brown, Island Devil and Gale Force) He is busy working on the reformulation of the Lake Erie Lager. The new formulation is going to be lighter, crisper and more user-friendly--a pleasant surprise for our light beer drinking friends. I know this month sounds all business, but for those of you who know; it’s been an emotional year and we are grateful for your prayers for Shannon. Her surgery went well and now it is ROUND 2.
May your year be blessed with health, family and friends to enjoy it with. Cheers from Patti,Doug, Jay, Petey and the crew
